One of my all time favorite movies is The Breakfast Club because it is about high school and coming together despite what appear to be differences on the outside.

It makes me proud how my generation is handling everything happening during this pandemic. We're making the best out of our High School experience during these times, and also are adapting very well to an entirely new way of learning.

If aliens showed up in your backyard, what would be the first thing you’d show them to help them understand Earth?

If Aliens showed up in my backyard I would probably show them the beach, as it is something everyone loves and is a common place for many to go.

If JazzCATS were collectively running the world, how would the world be different?

I know if we were collectively running the world, we would change it to be more inclusive. We see so much negative news because people are stigmatized for being different, but diversity and inclusivity are what allows us to thrive. Everyone in Jazzcats is unique in their own way but I love that we are still one family.

Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put into it and the sacrifices you’ve made?

It is such a rewarding feeling in the end. You look back on the last few years and you say to yourself “I cannot believe I have come this far.” I don’t mean this solely in the sense of dance ability; I feel I have learned so much about myself as a person and grew throughout my time at CS. Plus, I have made friends that I know will be with me for the rest of my life.

What companies/classes are you currently in? I'm in Cats and Tap Cats. When did you start at Center Stage? I switched to CS the summer before eighth grade. Right off the bat, I was impressed. I had never been a part of something like Power Dance, so that was pretty cool. Do you remember your first dance routine? Ugh, the one recital DVD I don't own. I really wish I did! I got to do a pas de deux with my stepdad in a daddy daughter dance.

So, Amanda Drayton!  You’ve been at Center Stage for quite a while, but you only joined company this year.  Why company?  Why now?  I joined the company this year because I knew I couldn’t leave before I went off to college. I had wanted to do it years ago but I wasn’t capable of getting to the studios in time, it was just wrong timing I guess.
