Jadelyn Cappella

What companies/classes are you currently in?

I am currently in the Senior CATS Company. I also take acting and voice lessons.

When did you start at Center Stage?

I started Center Stage at the Somerset studio when I was three.

Do you remember your first dance routine?

My first dance was a tap routine choreographed by Miss Pam to the song Bigger isn’t Better.

What was your Center Stage journey?

I fell in love with dance  at a young age and I knew it was something I would want to pursue. I started tap and ballet combo at the age of three. I then took Musical Theater classes. I joined company classes at the age of 9. My first competition company class was Tap Kids. I then auditioned for Jr. CATS and Tap CATS, I became a CATS apprentice and I’m now a Senior CAT.

Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put in to it and the sacrifices you’ve made?

It turned me into the person I am today in all honesty, it gave me a great work ethic and led me to fall in love with choreographing as well. I also gained an amazing family that will always hold a special place in my life journey.

Do you do other extracurricular activities?

Not only did I have the opportunity to dance at Center Stage but I also danced at my high school MCVTS School of The Arts, where I learned modern technique and the ability to create and choreograph a show. I also taught myself guitar and took piano lessons, I have always loved music.

You’re very musical, vocally and instrumentally. Other than voice classes at Center Stage, did you study music, or did you pick it up on your own?

I have been singing for as long as I could remember. I started taking it more seriously as I matured, my love for singing also persuaded me to learn and love the instruments I play today.

Who are your role models? Whose life and values, either from your personal life or famous people, would you like to emulate?

In all honesty I have had so many role models through different stages of my life that I would not even know where to start. Each one has influenced me to become who I am today.

If you could get rid of one thing in the world, what would it be?

Currently I am writing this in quarantine. I would love it if we can get rid of Covid 19. It really ruined my senior year but not only my senior year which is something so small in retrospect to the thousands of people who have sadly lost their lives because of this horrible virus.  Since I can not make something this drastic disappear I have to make the most out of everyday, you never know when it will be your last.

If you won Power Ball, how would it change your life? What would you do with your Winnings?

I have dreamed of traveling ever since I went to Paris my junior year of high school. So if I had the luck to win I would use the money to travel and pay off my college tuition.

What’s your favorite movie and why?

I have watched so many movies from the classics to the more current movies I can not pick just one.

Favorite book?

I have read multiple books but a book that stands out to me among the rest is Little Women.

What’s next?

I will be majoring in Dance/Musical Theater at University Of Hartford’s Hartt School. I hope to be able to also join their study abroad program and to learn more about dance culture in different countries. I hope to minor in journalism.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years I hope that I have not only traveled to the many countries I aspire to see but also the opportunity to show people what I have been training for my whole life by performing with either dance companies or on a Broadway stage.

Will you come back to visit Center Stage, or are you gone for good when you’re out the door?

Of course I will be back! Center Stage has been a part of my life for so long and I will always be there to support my Center Stage family.
