Eve Lavitman

What companies/classes are you currently in?

I am currently a member of Tap Cats as well as Senior Cats.

When did you start at Center Stage?

I started at Center Stage when I was nine years old in September of 2012 as a recreational dancer and then became a company member in 2013 at ten years old.

What was your Center Stage journey?

My center stage journey was one different from many. I began training in only ballet after moving from an all ballet school in Brooklyn, New York. During that process, I had a dear teacher of mine mention company to my parents and that’s where it had all begun. I now have danced for Cats (the highest company) for five years now.

Do you remember your first dance routine?

My first dance routine was “Can-Can” by Katrinka.

Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put into it and the sacrifices you’ve made?

Definitely. Although there are days where I’m exhausted from school to dance to work, everything is worth it. I wouldn’t be who I currently am without Center Stage.

What’s your favorite holiday or family tradition?

My favorite holiday/family tradition happens to be New Years’. Any Russian family knows the importance of a New Year. The entire family gets together to celebrate a healthy and safe year.

Did you have an imaginary friend?  What do you remember about him/her?  Is s/he still around?

Unfortunately, I did not have an imaginary friend growing up.

Did you have an embarrassing family nickname when you were little?

Nope.

What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?

The weirdest food I’ve ever eaten is probably “Shuba” translated as “Fur Coat” but also known as “Dressed Herring” in English. This might sound totally strange, but it’s quite delicious.

What’s your favorite animated movie and why?

I actually have never shared an interest in animated movies.

If you could safely have any animal as a pet, what would it be?

Definitely a nice Goldendoodle pup! I currently live with two and would not be able to picture my life without them.

Would you rather travel back in time to meet your ancestors, or into the future to meet your descendants?

This is a really tough one. I would probably jump on the opportunity to meet my descendants to show how super cool Grandma Eve truly is.

What personal quality do you have that you think will be the greatest asset to giving you a happy life?  Where did you learn or acquire it?

I believe my positive outlook on anything and everything will be the greatest asset to giving me a happy life. Believe it or not I have gained a big portion of this quality from dance itself as well as school. As humans we are put on this planet to make a change and strive to overcome any adversity we face. From partaking in so many activities not only in school, but out of school, I have been blessed to remain optimistic in any situation.

What’s next?

As of right now, I am trying to make the decision of a lifetime. I have heard back from many colleges but am now between Rutgers Pharmacy and Utampa Nursing.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years I hope to be out of college with a successful career path and hopefully a partner or even better, a family!

Will you come back to visit Center Stage, or are you gone for good when you’re out the door?

Of course, I will come back to visit Center Stage; not only have I made best friends, but I have found my forever family.
