Emily Fajardo
What companies/classes are you currently in?
I am currently in C.A.T.S Company.
When did you start at Center Stage?
I started when I was 3 in 2004
Do you remember your first dance routine?
No but I remember the costume was a black puffy dress for tap, and I had a hat on
What was your Center Stage journey?
I started out with tap and ballet. I then joined the Kitten Company, JR CATS, JAZZ CATS, and now CATS. I also did TAP CATS for a couple years.
Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put in to it and the sacrifices you’ve made?
Dance is a place where I get to enjoy myself and forget about the stress from everyday life and to be with people who I’ve know for years. They have truly have become my family. My friends I’ve made in dance will always be a huge part of who I am.
Do you do other outside of school activities?
I do the dance company at my high school but other than dance I like to draw in my free time.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
I am a sucker for any movie that makes me cry or has a cute love story. Usually I’m watching romantic comedies but my most recent favorite movie is Collateral Beauty.
Favorite Broadway show?
This is such a hard question because all Broadway shows are amazing, but my favorite I think would have to be Chicago. I love the story line and the choreography is amazing. It’s one of those things that while you’re watching it you want to get up and join them on stage.
First Broadway show?
The Little Mermaid. I remember looking in the orchestra pit and seeing Ariel and thought it was so cool.
Favorite food?
Chinese food for sure
First celebrity crush?
For sure was Justin Bieber, me and my sister went to his concert when he was little and I remember being so excited
TV Show you’re embarrassed to admit you used to watch?
HGTV I love to still watch but some people think it’s weird that I optionally watch this show but I love seeing how the houses turn out
If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
A dolphin because they get to swim through the ocean and I always think of how much of the world is unexplored and they’d be able to get to see things that I can’t.
When do you remember laughing the hardest?
This one time I was with my friends (who I made through dance) and this was the time when the floor is lava was a thing and my friends screamed the floor is lava in the middle of a parking lot. My other friend ran into a closing car trunk and it was so funny I still laugh when I think about it.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?
Martha Graham because she was such a free person with her choreography and didn’t care if people thought it was weird and just went for it. I would have many questions for her.
What’s next?I’m not sure where I’ll be going to college but hopefully I’ll get into school for graphic design and I’ll be involved doing dance club or company at the college.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
At my dream job in Google with designing apps or something like that.
Will you come back to visit Center Stage, or are you gone for good when you’re out the door?
I will definitely come back after I graduate, I’ve made so many friends and people who’ve become my family through here and made so many good memories.
