Adam Fiorito

What companies/classes are you currently in?

I am currently in the CATS and TAP Cats companies as well as Stephen’s Pre-professional acting class.

Do you remember your first dance routine?

Yes, it was a Sue jazz dance and Agnes was the assistant. I don’t remember the song or the dance exactly, but it was a red costume and there were two other boys in my class.

What was your Center Stage journey?

I started off in Cubs and went through every single jazz and Tap company until I got to the Senior level.

Do you know/remember how you got started in dance?

I remember my mom had told me she signed me up for dance classes, so one day she took me, and I ended up falling in love with it.

Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put into it and the sacrifices you’ve made?

Dancing at Center Stage has really made me the person I am today. I have spent most of my life at that studio with my friends and teachers helping me along the way and I really do not think I would trade it for anything.

What are the perks and perils of being a boy dancer?

Being a guy dancer is hard because people are always judging you and putting a label on you instantly if you tell them that you’re a guy that dances. But, it does have a lot of strengths as teaches discipline and skills from an early age that most people don’t receive. In addition to that I have learned how to talk to and respect women unlike most other men.

What kept you sane through the early quarantine months, if anything?

During the early quarantine months one of the only things that kept me sane was helping out around the studio anyway I could. I hated being stuck in my house, away from the studio, and all I wanted to do was go in. Helping to prepare the switch to a virtual dance life and helping put together all of the videos to make a recital really made being quarantined a lot less miserable.

If you could have someone follow you around all the time, like a personal assistant, what would you have them do?

I honestly don’t do much so I would just have them throw away all my garbage, wash me, and wipe me when I use the toilet

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight or nighttime, and why?

I thrive and am most productive in the twilight hours because of the quarantine; I found myself staying up every night until 6/7 am and then not waking up until 4pm. This cycle made it so that by the time it got to around 2 am I was ready to anything that needed to be done.

If you could snap your fingers and be the best in the world at something, what would it be?

It would probably be hockey because I have always wished I was amazing at hockey and could be a pro player but that didn’t work out.

Who was your first celebrity crush?

Probably Kim Possible or Selena Gomez

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pasta

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

The mountains on a vineyard in Italy.

Say you’re independently wealthy and will never have to work, what would you do with your time?

Try to figure out how I could better the lives of everyone else with what I have.

What’s next?

In the fall I am going to Stevens Institute of Technology, majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully a very successful scientist and hopefully working for Elon Musk.

Will you come back to visit Center Stage, or are you gone for good when you’re out the door?

I will be back at Center Stage as much as I can.
