What companies/classes are you currently in?
I am currently in both CATS and Tap Cat 1’s
You were born into a Center Stage family. Do you remember actually starting class, or does it seem like you were always enrolled here?
My first memory of anything is being in class when I was in the Somerset Studio. Pam’s tap class is my earliest memory of anything!
Do you remember your first dance routine?
No not really, but I know that I was the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz and danced to Slide Some Oil.
What was your Center Stage journey?
I started out as a combo class dancer and ended up taking jazz, tap and Hip Hop classes. My favorite form of dance was always hip hop and I took most of my classes in that. When it came time for the class I was taking with Mickey to audition for Jr. Cats I didn’t know what to do. Mickey talked to me and told me she thought I should also audition. That was how I ended up being a company dancer here.
Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put in to it and the sacrifices you’ve made?
It has been a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun to be a part of CATS/Tap Cats Company.
Being a boy dancer has its own opportunities and challenges. Did you ever feel like you should give it up because of the pressure of ‘boys don’t dance?
No. I have never had that problem because all of the people in my life are very supportive of what I do.
You may be the first person at Center Stage who was a student and a teacher at the same time. How do you like teaching?
It has its challenges, but I enjoy my students! But, being a student and teacher at the same time has made me very aware of both sides. I get the student thoughts and the teacher thoughts all at once.
Do you do other activities?
I like doing sports in general. I tend to be a very active person.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is Adventure Land. Just watch Adventure Land – you’ll get it lol
I like to consider myself a music enthusiast. I like all types.
If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
I would definitely be a sea turtle because they live hundreds of years. I’m kind of like Crush from Finding Nemo lol
If you could Netflix and chill with any famous figure, who would it be? What would you watch?
I would chill with Neil deGrasse Tyson and watch his own documentary as he explains the fundamentals of astrophysics to me and blows my mind.
College and auditioning in New York. I’d like to pursue an acting career and audition for hip hop gigs.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Probably in L.A. doing whatever I have luck in getting.
Will you come back to visit Center Stage, or are you gone for good when you’re out the door?
I will definitely be back. My whole family works here. If for no other reason, that makes it inevitable!
