My very first dance wasn’t at Center Stage, it was when I was 3 years old, and it was called Pennies from Heaven. My first year at Center Stage, I was a Sr. Cougar, and I was in Over the Rainbow, China Dolls, and Tea Party (I was the Cheshire cat.)
What was your Center Stage journey?
I started at Center Stage when I was 11 as a Sr. Cougar. Then I left company for a few years to focus on school, but I was still taking ballet and lyrical classes, and I have been a Jazzcat for the last 3 years. The Jazzcats have become my second family.
Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put in to it and the sacrifices you’ve made?
Getting to the point where I am now has definitely taken a lot of hard work and energy, but at the end of the day, the thrill of performing on stage and all of the friends I have made along the way have made it worth it.
Do you do other outside of school activities?
I volunteer at a physical therapy clinic, I am a member of National Honor Society, and I am a staff member of my school’s newspaper and literary magazine. I am in a medsci program that takes a lot of work to keep up in, so I don’t have time for much else.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
I liked Now You See Me because it was the first movie I watched for a while where I didn’t know what was coming next the whole time. I like movies that make you think a little bit.
Favorite Broadway show?
Phantom of the Opera
First Broadway show?
I don’t remember!
I’m actually a really picky eater, but anything with garlic in it is usually a good choice.
First celebrity crush?
I can’t say I really had one.
TV Show you’re embarrassed to admit you used to watch?
I watched the Vampire Diaries, which is embarrassing because I’m not usually into that genre.
If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
A wolf. I love wolves, they’re my favorite animal.
When do you remember laughing the hardest?
I laugh all the time, it doesn’t take much to set me off, but I probably laughed the hardest at a sleepover with my best friend at 4:00 in the morning. We were trying to stay up all night, and we were both half asleep but trying to do Mad Libs. We were trying to come up with the most complex words we could, and we couldn’t even get through reading the first sentence without rolling on the floor. We ended up falling asleep around 5, and when we woke up and looked back at it, most of the stories weren’t actually that funny, but they were hilarious at the moment.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?
I don’t know, I don’t like eating in front of people I don’t know and I wouldn’t really know what to ask a famous historical figure. Maybe George Washington to check out his teeth?
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself as a physical therapist within the next 10 years.
Will you come back to visit Center Stage, or are you gone for good when you’re out the door?
I will definitely come back and visit! Center Stage has been my second home for too long not to come back.
