What was your Center Stage journey?

My Center Stage journey started when I was 3 years old. I took combined ballet and jazz classes, sometimes tap. At the age of 7 I started competition. I went from Kittens to Cougars to Jr. Cats to Cats. Once I became I Jr. Cat I started competing in tap as well. Now I’m in both Cats and Tap Cats.

How did acting and singing fit into your program, and how did they affect your Center Stage experience?

Being a Tap Cat I was required to take acting classes. I really enjoyed acting and eventually was asked to be in the pre-professional class. Because I was in that class, I felt as if I needed to audition to be part of the big shows so I began to take singing lessons. 3 years later I have realized that acting is passion and I don’t know where I’d be without it. Although singing has not been my strong suit, I still feel as though that has improved my performance skills as a whole.

When did you start auditioning for mainstage shows, and which was your favorite role?

I auditioned for the big show my sophomore year. It was also the first year I was in pre-professional acting. My favorite role was probably The Prosecutor in “Time Steps”. I loved playing a lawyer and trying to prove my character was always right. I also loved how I got to wear business clothes.

Why has it been worth all of the energy you’ve put in to it and the sacrifices you’ve made?

All the energy and sacrifices have been worth it because no matter what I know Center Stage is always there for me. Nothing beats the feeling of being on stage and I wouldn’t trade the family I have made at Center Stage for anything.

Do you do other outside of school activities?

In school I am part of DECA, which is a student marketing association where we compete in different marketing events around the country. I just recently competed in Anaheim, California at the DECA International Conference.
